This is what happens when a Nanny state mentality is allowed to fester.

The Bloomberg article explains that Obama appointee, Ray Lahood wants to ban ALL phone use in cars including hands free calls.

This is the height of absurdity. I can see the case for banning handheld phone. However, banning hands free is absolute idiocy, nonsense, absurdity, ignorance and stupidity when people are not banned from having conversations with passengers.  Let’s put the driver in an isolated cell in the car with a hydraulically operated head restrain to make sure that they are looking at the traffic in an efficient manner.

The other absurd notion here is that the billboard companies are allowed to put electronic billboards on the highway. I’ve seen some of these change as often as every 3 seconds. Perhaps the transportation secretary wants to eliminate the distraction of phones in order to allow them to better enjoy the distraction of billboards.
