The Joomla 2.5 platform will be reaching it’s End of Life in December 2014. That means that updates will generally not be available after the EOL.
This can create security issues.
If you are running a site on Joomla 2.5, you should start making plans to migrate/update to Joomla 3.22.
We are finding that some hosting packages do not offer PHP 5.3.10 or higher. That requires upgrading the hosting plan, migrating the site to the new hosting and then migrating to Joomla 3.x.
