Information about the Joomla Platform from Version 1.5 through to the current version.
There have been times when I’ve been working on a site and added an article, module or plugin and lost track of it.. (i.e. adding an article and forgetting the title on a large site.) … yes, that can happen.
So, the question is, how do you find recently added plugins, modules, articles, categories and/or menu items?? Continue reading
I wanted to get two things when users submitted a form to one of our Joomla sites using forms created with Fabrik: (1) The page they were on when they submitted the form and (2) the user agent.
I wanted the page they were on when they submitted the form because we have the contact form on every page. It would be helpful to see which page the user was on when they filled it out and hit submit. Continue reading

Web platforms such as Joomla are database driven. That means that they are sensitive to the number of connections open at any one time. Many business owners will start a site on inexpensive shared hosting for perhaps ten dollars a month. Continue reading

There was a security issue with virtuemart where versions between 2.0.8 and 2.0.22a have an SQL injection vulnerability. I had two client sites with this issue.
When I tried to update Virtuemart, I ran into a variety of errors. Most of these pointed to the safe path.
I found a workaround that someone had posted at http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=106226.0 Continue reading
Yes, I know.. Tables are deprecated.. However, they can be useful in certain cases.
I’ve always had trouble getting a table that was less than full width to center. Setting the alignment to “Center” in the table properties box (JCE) never seemed to work.. Well, that is because artisteer works with CSS. Continue reading
I noticed that some of our Joomla sites would show an Joomla Core update notification while other sites didn’t. Admin tools would show if there was an update but a recent update of admin tools seems to have dropped this feature.
If you go to the Joomla control panel and don’t see the Joomla core update icon, the fix is simple: Continue reading
